Game Overview
FINAL FANTASY XVI marks the series’ first fully realized action RPG experience, set in a richly detailed dark fantasy world where towering Eikons—powerful summoned beings—and their human Dominants shape the fate of the land. The story follows Clive Rosfield, the “First Shield of Rosaria,” who is devoted to protecting his younger brother Joshua, the Dominant of the Phoenix. When tragedy strikes, Clive embarks on a quest for vengeance against Ifrit, the fearsome Dark Eikon whose arrival brings widespread devastation. The narrative weaves themes of loyalty, power, and conflict as Clive navigates a world torn apart by rival factions and colossal battles between Eikons. Gameplay centers on fast-paced, dynamic combat where players control Clive and harness the abilities of multiple Eikons to unleash devastating attacks. The combat system offers a variety of sword techniques and supernatural powers that can be customized and upgraded to suit different playstyles. For those less experienced with action games, a story-focused mode simplifies controls by automating some defensive maneuvers and enabling powerful Eikon combos with minimal input. Meanwhile, action-focused mode allows players full control over Clive’s movements and attacks, providing a more challenging and skill-based experience. Throughout the journey, players will engage in epic clashes between Dominants and their summoned Eikons, making for intense, cinematic encounters that highlight the game’s blend of narrative depth and thrilling combat.
