Game Overview

Set during the summer of 1943, *Unity of Command II – Kursk* immerses players in the pivotal battles of the Eastern Front’s Kursk salient, where the Red Army prepared to confront the anticipated German offensive after a grueling winter campaign. The game captures the intense strategic and tactical challenges faced by both sides as the Soviets fortified their defenses and amassed mechanized forces, artillery, and reserves to withstand the famed German panzer assaults. Players will experience not only the iconic tank clashes at Prokhorovka, Kutuzov, and Ruymantsev but also a variety of lesser-known engagements across the Mius region, near Smolensk, and along the Black Sea coast. These battles culminate in critical efforts to secure the Dnieper River crossings, highlighting the ebb and flow of the 1943 Soviet campaign. The expansion offers two comprehensive campaigns: a 16-scenario Soviet campaign that traces the course of the Kursk battles through the end of 1943, and a 15-scenario German campaign called Zitadelle 43, which covers the initial offensive and significant counterattacks leading up to the Korsun Pocket battles in early 1944. The German campaign also features alternate history paths, including one that extends the conflict into the Mediterranean theater. Alongside the rich narrative and strategic depth, the game introduces new unit models for late-war Soviet infantry and guards, as well as updated winter camouflage for SS, Wehrmacht, and Finnish armored divisions, enhancing both visual authenticity and gameplay variety.
