Insect Swarm is a top-down flying shooter set on a desolate desert planet recently discovered in deep space. Players take on the role of a lone survivor trapped on this hostile world after mining operations inadvertently awaken a terrifying species known as the Blood Insects. These alien creatures, whose blood crystals power the planet’s rare minerals, launch a brutal counterattack that decimates the mining bases and leaves you stranded. Your mission is to navigate this dangerous environment, fend off relentless insect swarms, and ultimately find a way to escape—or destroy the planet to end the threat once and for all. Gameplay in Insect Swarm revolves around fast-paced aerial combat and exploration across a seamless, borderless map. You pilot a customizable airframe equipped with both ranged and melee weapons, including a heavy Gatling gun and a melee weapon with extended reach. The game allows you to switch between fighter and Mecha modes, each offering distinct combat styles. Controls are designed for precision, with keyboard movement and mouse aiming for shooting and melee attacks. Progression is driven by collecting resources scattered throughout the world, which you can use to upgrade your weapons and airframe without any level cap, encouraging continuous improvement and combat adaptation.
