Game Overview
Children of Morta is an action RPG that blends rogue-lite elements with a heartfelt narrative centered on the Bergson family, a group of heroes united against a spreading Corruption threatening their homeland. Unlike traditional games focusing on a single protagonist, you switch between multiple family members, each with distinct abilities and playstyles—from John, the steadfast warrior, to Lucy, a fiery mage, and others who specialize in ranged attacks, melee combat, or healing. As you explore procedurally generated dungeons filled with varied enemies and challenging bosses, you develop not only individual characters but also the family as a whole, unlocking new skills and upgrading abilities without the threat of permadeath. Between runs, you can revisit earlier dungeons to gain extra experience or complete side quests, adding depth to the gameplay loop. Set in a richly crafted world brought to life through hand-painted pixel art and dynamic lighting, Children of Morta combines emotional storytelling with engaging hack-and-slash mechanics. The narrative explores universal themes such as love, hope, sacrifice, and resilience, emphasizing the bonds that hold the family together in the face of darkness. The game supports both local and online co-op, allowing players to team up and tackle the game’s challenges together in story mode or the more difficult Family Trials. With a completed development roadmap, the game includes a variety of additional content, new characters, and gameplay enhancements, offering a polished and immersive experience for fans of action RPGs and rogue-lites alike.
