CUFFBUST is a dynamic multiplayer prison escape game set in a sprawling, destructible environment where all cell doors have mysteriously opened after a security breach. Players take on the role of Jailiens, working either cooperatively or competitively to navigate the prison’s complex layout and find a way out. The game emphasizes creativity and strategy, allowing players to break through doors, vents, and weak walls using explosives and makeshift tools like spoons. Stealthy players can even dig underground tunnels for a covert escape. The environment plays a crucial role, offering interactive elements such as security cameras to track guards, intercom systems for team communication, and air defenses that can be disabled to enable an airborne getaway. Players can also manipulate natural surroundings, like punching down trees to build rafts, adding layers of depth to the escape plans. With lobbies supporting up to ten players, CUFFBUST encourages diverse playstyles—from teaming up to coordinate an escape, to betraying allies or sabotaging rival teams. The game features a wide array of tools, including improvised weapons, ID cards for accessing restricted sections, and even firearms and riot shields looted from the armory. Progression is enhanced by a robust in-game map editor and Steam Workshop integration, where players can create and share custom prisons, races, and arenas. The customization options extend to hundreds of free cosmetics, allowing players to personalize their Jailiens as they explore numerous unique escape routes. Adding to the challenge are hostile Gerjohntons, who stand in the way of freedom and must be dealt with by any means necessary.
