REYNATIS is an action-packed magical RPG set in a meticulously recreated version of modern-day Shibuya, Tokyo, in the year 2024. The city is under the shadow of the Criminal Magic Response Act, which prohibits nighttime outings, though few actually follow the law. Players follow two characters with conflicting ideals: Marin Kirizumi, a wizard seeking freedom through strength after a life of oppression, and Sari Nishijima, who uses her magic to enforce order and protect the city from dangerous elements like illegal drugs that transform people into monsters. Their intertwined stories unfold against a backdrop where contemporary urban life and magical conflict collide, creating a rich narrative steeped in themes of justice, freedom, and societal control. Gameplay in REYNATIS revolves around a dynamic combat system that toggles between two states: Suppressed Mode, where players cannot attack but can easily evade enemy strikes, and Liberated Mode, which allows full offensive power but leaves the player vulnerable, making timing crucial. Players can switch instantly between three unique characters during battle, each offering distinct abilities that encourage strategic adaptation. Exploration plays a key role, with an authentic Shibuya environment featuring iconic landmarks and hidden locales. Interacting with civilians while in Suppressed Mode can reveal quests and secrets, while Liberated Mode unlocks magical traversal abilities at the risk of attracting hostile forces.
