Game Overview

8-Bit Hordes invites players into a vibrant fantasy world where two contrasting factions—the fierce Dark Orcs allied with undead forces and the upbeat Humans, Dwarves, and Elves known as the Lightbringers—clash in fast-paced real-time strategy battles. Designed to be accessible for both newcomers and experienced RTS fans, the game combines classic base-building mechanics with resource management and army-building. Players gather resources, construct their bases, and deploy their armies to outmaneuver and overpower their opponents across a variety of colorful and destructible environments, ranging from eerie cemeteries to haunted forests and underworld landscapes. The game offers a rich assortment of gameplay modes, including a 24-mission offline campaign that explores the conflict between the two factions, as well as 12 cooperative missions to tackle with friends. For those seeking competitive play, up to eight players can face off in multiplayer matches on dedicated servers, supported by ten different skirmish maps. Challenging AI opponents with adjustable difficulty provide additional replayability, whether playing solo or cooperatively. Notably, 8-Bit Hordes features full interoperability with its predecessor, 8-Bit Armies, allowing for exciting crossover battles using factions and maps from both games. Complemented by a lively, arcade-inspired art style and an energetic soundtrack composed by Frank Klepacki, the game delivers a welcoming yet engaging RTS experience for players who appreciate streamlined mechanics without sacrificing depth.
