Apollyon: River of Life invites players into a dark fantasy world steeped in occult mystery, where summoning and negotiating with demons and spiritual entities is central to survival and power. Set in the eerie land of Sartova, the game blends narrative-driven role-playing with strategic board game and deckbuilding mechanics, creating a unique multiplayer experience that supports up to three players. Over the course of 40+ hours, players manipulate obsidian tokens on the Apollyic table, a mystical board that influences the spirits that appear, the abilities available, and the challenges faced. Each round presents encounters with three different spiritual beings—ranging from otherworldly creatures to fellow occult practitioners—that must be overcome through a mix of combat, diplomacy, deception, or ritual invocation. Progression in Apollyon is tied closely to the choices players make, which shape both the unfolding narrative and the development of ten distinct playable characters. Players can unlock permanent spirit Invocations and bring charms into each ritual, adding layers of strategy and personalization.
