Game Overview
BRUTUS MAXIMUS is a fast-paced horde survival game set during the Roman Empire’s military campaigns in Germania and beyond. You take on the role of Brutus Maximus, an undead legionnaire resurrected by a Germanic druid with a mysterious mission: to confront Rome and uncover the true meaning of “Pax Romana.” The journey spans 14 diverse maps, from dense northern forests to the sunbaked shores of Northern Africa, culminating in the heart of Rome itself. Each run lasts around 20 minutes, offering quick but intense sessions filled with relentless waves of enemies and unique boss encounters. Gameplay centers around fluid melee and ranged combat, with a variety of Roman soldier classes to choose from, including the sturdy Legionarius, the elite Centurion wielding a two-handed sword, the former-slave Gladiator, and specialized ranged units like the Sagittarius archer and Ballistarius crossbowman. Players can customize their character with over 250 upgrades, combining weapon skills, magic effects, and elemental damage types to create powerful synergies. For example, fire damage causes explosive effects on critical kills, while poison clouds and chain lightning add strategic depth. Offhand items like shields, additional weapons, and quivers can be swapped on the fly, opening new attack possibilities and enhancing survivability. BRUTUS MAXIMUS challenges players to master its rich combat mechanics and progression systems as they carve a path through the empire’s enemies in this action-packed, roguelike-inspired adventure.
