Curse of the Sea Rats is a richly animated 2.5D platformer set along the rugged Irish coast in the 18th century. The game follows four prisoners of the British Empire who have been transformed into rats by the pirate witch Flora Burn. To reclaim their human forms, players must explore a sprawling, non-linear world filled with dangerous enemies, challenging bosses, and hidden secrets. The game’s hand-drawn 2D animations are inspired by classic animated films, blending seamlessly with detailed 3D environments that use lighting and shadow to enhance the atmospheric experience. Players can choose from four distinct characters—David Douglas, Buffalo Calf, Bussa, and Akane Yamakawa—each offering unique combat styles and abilities. As the adventure unfolds, characters can be upgraded with new special skills, improved offense and defense, and powerful magical abilities to better tackle the challenges ahead.
