Set in the year 2120, *Die After Sunset* thrusts players into a desperate fight against an alien invasion by the bizarre yet deadly Murkors, an otherworldly race spreading chaos across the Earth. As a member of the resistance, you must battle through ever-changing environments, starting each run in a new location like the iconic Waikiki Beach. The game blends fast-paced roguelite shooting with strategic elements, challenging you to stay in the light where the Murkors are vulnerable; these shadow-dwelling foes grow stronger and more dangerous when darkness prevails. Positioning and timing become crucial as you navigate randomized quests, collect powerful items, and prepare for epic boss encounters at the end of each level. Players can choose from three distinct characters, each offering unique weapons and special abilities: April, the precise sharpshooter; Rido, a half-cyborg machine gunner; and Hune, a Murkor experiment gone awry. Throughout your mission, you’ll gather a variety of upgrades—from mobility enhancements like double jumps to inventive weapons such as the “refreshing ray” designed to punish the alien invaders. Defeating Murkors yields “Mucus,” a valuable currency that you can bank to unlock permanent progression in skill trees, ensuring every run strengthens your defender. Though death is inevitable, it only marks a new opportunity to grow stronger and push back the Murkor menace before the sun sets on humanity’s last hope.
