Stormworks: Industrial Frontier expands the Stormworks universe with a vast new arid biome spanning 400 square kilometers, effectively doubling the game's total landmass. This sprawling mega island features a diverse landscape of salt flats, rugged cliffs, canyons, volcanic areas, and industrial zones, set in a warmer southern region of the Stormworks world. The environment is brought to life with extensive road and rail networks, including complex switching stations, storage yards, and bridges, allowing players to explore and transport resources across the new terrain efficiently. The expansion introduces a comprehensive mining and refining system, where players can extract various minerals from surface deposits using specialized mining drills. These raw materials can then be processed at dedicated foundries into valuable metal ingots, which can be sold for profit at trading yards. Alongside these industrial opportunities, the new wildlife system populates the island with dozens of animal species, ranging from passive creatures like deer and farm animals to more aggressive predators such as bears and wolves. Additionally, domesticated dogs called Stormwoofs add a unique companion element, responding to commands via dog whistles and aiding players in locating survivors. Together, these features create a rich blend of exploration, resource management, and survival gameplay that deepens the Stormworks experience.
