Game Overview
Lost Planet 3 takes players back to the harsh and unpredictable world of E.D.N. III, a frozen planet filled with danger and mystery. Set as a prequel to the series, the game follows Jim Peyton, a rig pilot who leaves Earth to work for Neo-Venus Construction (NEVEC), a company preparing the planet for colonization. Arriving at the Coronis base, Jim’s mission is to survey the uncharted wilderness and collect samples of the planet’s vital Thermal Energy, a dwindling resource crucial to the survival of the colony. As he navigates the treacherous environment, Jim faces not only the brutal climate but also hostile alien creatures known as the Akrid, making each expedition a risky but potentially rewarding venture. Gameplay in Lost Planet 3 blends intense first-person combat with exploration and resource gathering, offering a mix of on-foot action and mechanized battles using the versatile utility rig. This rig serves as both Jim’s mobile base and primary means of defense, equipped with various tools to help him adapt to the planet’s shifting conditions. The game also features a progression system that encourages upgrading the rig and weapons, enhancing both survival and combat capabilities. Beyond its single-player campaign, Lost Planet 3 includes several multiplayer modes, providing additional challenges and opportunities to engage with the unique ecosystem of E.D.N. III. By diving deeper into the planet’s colonial history and uncovering hidden secrets, the game expands the narrative of the Lost Planet universe while delivering a dynamic and immersive gameplay experience.
