The game follows two protagonists: Akil, a learned Muslim known as the Mandinga, skilled in reading, writing, and various crafts, and Obadelê, a formidable Yoruba capoeirista warrior. Despite their different backgrounds, the two heroes unite in a struggle for freedom, navigating the challenges of a deeply troubled era that continues to resonate in Brazilian history. This JRPG offers a unique twist on turn-based combat through its innovative dice-based system. Players unlock an array of dice, each endowed with special skills, and create specialized “Dicesets” to tailor their tactics for different battles. The flexibility to switch between combat styles on any turn adds a strategic layer to encounters, encouraging experimentation and thoughtful planning. The game features a handcrafted, explorable world that brings its historical setting to life, supported by a narrative that explores themes of resistance and identity.
