Players step into the shoes of Yuma, a trainee detective accompanied by his enigmatic Shinigami companion, as he joins an elite agency tasked with uncovering hidden truths. The narrative unfolds through a blend of exploration and supernatural investigations, requiring players to scour the city for clues and interrogate its inhabitants. Each detective on Yuma’s team possesses unique “Forensic Fortes” — special abilities such as postcognition or disguise — that aid in uncovering evidence that might otherwise remain hidden. Gameplay alternates between investigating the real world and navigating the surreal “Mystery Labyrinth,” where gathered clues transform into keys for overcoming traps and puzzles.
