Monkey Barrels

Monkey Barrels is a fast-paced twin-stick shooter set in a quirky, post-apocalyptic world where humanity has been wiped out by an evil electronics manufacturer known as Crabbenwold Electric. The story follows a group of monkeys on a daring mission to rescue their friend Kotetsu, who has been captured by the sinister crab overlords. Players take control of Kotetsu’s allies, Masaru and Hanako, as they battle through waves of hostile, weaponized gadgets and machines across 22 vibrant stages inspired by different regions of Japan. Each level culminates in a challenging bullet-hell style boss fight, testing players’ reflexes and strategic thinking. The gameplay centers around experimenting with a wide variety of unconventional weapons crafted from everyday household items like bottles, cans, blow dryers, and umbrellas. Players can equip up to four weapons at once, mixing two primary guns with two secondary tools such as grenades or shields, allowing for diverse playstyles and tactical approaches. As players take damage, their “WILD POWER” meter charges, enabling them to unleash powerful super moves that clear out enemies and projectiles in a flash. Beyond the story mode, Monkey Barrels also offers an energetic online multiplayer mode called “Banana Scramble,” where four to six players compete in chaotic monkey-versus-monkey battles. The game’s distinctive “3D pixel art” style blends retro aesthetics with modern flair, making for a visually unique and entertaining shooter experience.
