Game Overview
NOT A HERO is a fast-paced indie shooter that blends action-packed gameplay with a quirky political storyline. Set in a crime-ridden city divided into three major districts, the game follows Steve, a former professional assassin turned reluctant campaign manager. He is enlisted by BunnyLord, an anthropomorphic rabbit and mayoral hopeful from the future, to clean up the streets and win over voters by any means necessary. Players take control of Steve and a growing cast of nine unconventional anti-heroes, each boasting unique weapons and abilities—from shotguns and katanas to hammers—offering varied combat styles as they battle through waves of criminals and unpredictable enemies. The gameplay combines dynamic run-and-gun mechanics with a smooth cover system that allows players to slide, dive, and roll between cover points while dodging enemy fire. Missions feature a mix of primary objectives and random secondary challenges that keep encounters fresh and intense, introducing unexpected threats such as SWAT teams, helicopter gunships, and even eccentric foes like pandas and suicidal samurais. Developed by London-based Roll7, NOT A HERO employs the innovative ISO-Slant™ technology, which creates a distinctive 2¼D visual style that enhances the traditional pixel art aesthetic. This approach delivers a visually striking experience that complements the game’s fast-paced, cover-based combat, making NOT A HERO a unique entry in the indie shooter genre.
