Game Overview
Pathogenic is a unique 2D roguelike twin-stick shooter that puts you in the role of a parasite battling to dominate a human host from within. Set inside the microscopic world of the body, the game challenges you to survive and evolve by hunting down enemy cells and scavenging their organelles to customize your own pathogen. By grafting components like flagella for movement, mitochondria for energy, or secretors for ranged attacks, you can create diverse and powerful builds tailored to your playstyle. This deep customization system encourages experimentation, allowing you to combine organelle effects and unlock devastating synergies as you grow from a simple cell into a complex agent of infection. As you navigate procedurally generated biomes such as the lungs, heart, and brain, you’ll face an array of immune system defenders, including macrophages and T cells, alongside rival parasites competing for survival. The game’s organic environments are brought to life through soft-body physics, giving every cell, projectile, and enemy a distinct, fluid motion that enhances the immersive experience. Beyond the immediate challenges of each run, Pathogenic features a metaprogression system where you collect plasmid fragments to unlock permanent upgrades, expanding your parasite’s capabilities over time. Combining handcrafted design with procedural variety, the game offers fresh and engaging encounters with every playthrough, inviting players to master the art of infection in a vibrant, microscopic battlefield.
