Game Overview
Set two decades after the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, *Pompeii: The Legacy* invites players to lead the revival of a city rising from ruin. As the head of a Roman family, you must steer Pompeii’s reconstruction and guide its growth through a complex web of politics, commerce, and social dynamics within the Roman Empire. The game challenges you to balance the competing interests of patricians, plebeians, and slaves, each group driven by their own ambitions and rivalries. Every decision—from planning streets and public buildings to managing marketplaces and aqueducts—shapes not only the city’s landscape but also the long-term fortunes of your family. Gameplay focuses on strategic city-building and political maneuvering, where you influence laws, broker trade agreements, and forge alliances through marriage or diplomacy. Expanding your family’s influence involves careful management of resources and infrastructure, including housing, temples, and arenas, alongside establishing trade routes throughout the empire. Progression hinges on developing Family Bonuses, Research and Development in two main branches—Technology and Philosophy—and securing Imperial Privileges that provide various advantages. The world is unpredictable, with threats such as earthquakes, fires, famine, plagues, and political intrigue constantly testing your leadership. Whether facing open conflict or subtle sabotage, you must navigate a shifting landscape of power to ensure Pompeii’s legacy endures.
