Portal Defect

Portal Defect is a top-down roguelite set in a unique timeline that blurs the lines between past and future. Players take on the role of a new agent working for a mysterious organization known as "the Hive." Sent back in time to alter history according to their employer's wishes—whether that means assassinating kings or eliminating a peculiar breed of chickens destined to dominate beauty contests centuries later—agents quickly find their mission complicated by a malfunctioning portal. Trapped in an endless time loop, players must navigate procedurally generated levels filled with unpredictable challenges and enemies as they strive to break free and return home. The gameplay centers on survival and adaptability, with over ten different weapons and twenty spells to discover and combine in strategic ways. Each run is unique due to the randomized environments and loot, encouraging experimentation and quick thinking. Permadeath adds a high-stakes element, resetting progress upon defeat but also offering a fresh experience with every attempt. While currently focused on solo play, multiplayer support is planned for future updates. Portal Defect is still in Early Access, with ongoing development aimed at refining gameplay, adding content, and delivering a compelling roguelite experience that keeps players coming back for more.
