Game Overview
Project Songbird is a first-person psychological horror experience that blends cinematic storytelling with immersive exploration and combat. Developed by Conner Rush and FYRE Games, known for titles like Summerland and We Never Left, the game puts players in the shoes of Dakota, a musician grappling with writer’s block. Seeking solitude and inspiration, Dakota retreats to a secluded cabin deep within the Appalachian forest to work on their next album. What begins as a quiet creative journey soon spirals into a haunting and unsettling ordeal, where players must navigate both the natural wilderness and disturbing dreamlike environments. The game’s narrative unfolds over four to five hours, delivering a gripping and atmospheric story that keeps players engaged and guessing until the final moments. Visually, Project Songbird impresses with richly detailed landscapes and a cinematic, film-inspired aesthetic. Gameplay combines exploration with ranged and melee combat, allowing players to upgrade their weapons as they confront nightmarish threats. The experience is further elevated by a talented voice cast featuring Valerie Rose Lohman, Jonah Scott, and Aleks Le, alongside a haunting, dynamic soundtrack composed by members of the band Auric Echoes. As a deeply personal project from a solo developer, Project Songbird offers a unique blend of psychological horror and musical creativity, inviting players to immerse themselves in an eerie, emotionally charged journey.
