Game Overview
Rauniot is an isometric point-and-click adventure set in a hauntingly beautiful post-apocalyptic Northern Finland. The game unfolds in 1975, after a devastating natural disaster has plunged civilization into chaos. Rising seas have swallowed entire continents, and pollution from failed nuclear plants has left the environment toxic and hostile. Society has fractured, with survivors struggling to endure amid scarcity, mutation, and conflict. Amid this bleak landscape, small groups have formed to safeguard precious resources like food, water, medicine, and knowledge, striving to rebuild some semblance of community and hope. Players step into the shoes of Aino, a member of one such group, tasked with undertaking perilous journeys and solving intricate puzzles to secure the survival of her people. Rauniot features over 70 richly detailed scenes, each contributing to the game’s melancholic atmosphere that captures the unique mood of Northern Finland. The puzzles vary in difficulty and order, offering a dynamic challenge that keeps gameplay engaging throughout. A built-in notebook helps players track their progress and unravel the story. The experience is further enriched by Finnish voice acting with a distinct North-Finland accent, adding authenticity and emotional depth to the narrative. Together, these elements create a reflective adventure focused on survival, trust, and the fragile balance between humanity and nature in a devastated world.
