Game Overview
Set in a harsh and unpredictable desert known as the Phithi, *Sandwalkers* immerses players in a world where meteorological chaos isolates scattered tribes and makes survival a constant challenge. Every decade, the Mka tribe dispatches caravans of adventurers into this dangerous expanse with a critical mission: to forge new alliances, reclaim lands overrun by monsters and pirates, and establish a new tree city that can serve as a sanctuary for the Mka and their allies. Players lead one of these caravans through diverse and treacherous landscapes, facing not only hostile creatures and enemy factions but also extreme weather events like acid rain, storms, and heat waves that directly impact movement and combat. Gameplay in *Sandwalkers* blends tactical exploration, resource management, and strategic combat, requiring players to adapt to both environmental hazards and unforeseen threats. Each caravan member possesses unique abilities, offering different approaches to challenges—whether delving into ancient ruins as an archaeologist or hunting colossal beasts as a tracker. The story unfolds through the memories captured and transmitted back to the capital via mysterious crystospheres borne by traveling beetles, enabling players to carry knowledge forward and influence subsequent expeditions. As players navigate political intrigue, rescue refugees, and uncover the origins of the Phithi’s climate turmoil, their choices shape both the fate of their caravan and the future of the desert itself, with the ultimate goal of restoring balance and ending centuries of wandering in this unforgiving land.
