The Magnificent Trufflepigs is a first-person narrative experience set in the tranquil English countryside, where players step into the shoes of Adam, a thoughtful and empathetic man returning to his childhood village of Stanning. As summer unfolds, Adam joins Beth—a driven young woman on the brink of becoming a CEO—on a quest to find a long-lost piece of jewelry that once brought her fleeting fame and a sense of wonder. With the local farm soon to be transformed into a solar energy site, their time is limited, and the search takes on a bittersweet urgency. As the story progresses, cracks appear in Beth’s carefully constructed plans, revealing deeper layers of her past and challenging the bond between the two characters. Gameplay centers around relaxed metal detecting and exploration, inviting players to methodically scan fields for hidden “treasures,” which often turn out to be everyday objects rather than valuable artifacts. Using tools like a shovel and trowel, players dig up their finds and share photos with Beth, fostering a connection through dialogue conducted via walkie-talkie and instant messaging.
