Two Falls (Nishu Takuatshina) is a first-person, narrative-driven adventure set in the 17th-century Canadian wilderness, offering players a deeply immersive experience through the intertwined stories of two characters from vastly different worlds. You’ll follow Jeanne, a resolute French King's Daughter stranded far from the familiar French colonies after a shipwreck, and Maikan, a young Innu hunter determined to uncover the source of a mysterious blight threatening his ancestral forest. As Jeanne struggles to survive the harsh, uncharted wilds while grappling with her faith and the moral dilemmas of survival, Maikan’s journey leads him into unfamiliar territories and a tense first encounter with outsiders, challenging his traditions and beliefs. The game’s narrative unfolds through exploration and investigative gameplay, inviting players to examine detailed 17th-century environments rendered with Unreal Engine 5. Each character’s perspective is distinct, reflected not only in story but also through contrasting artistic styles and soundscapes, including an original soundtrack by Indigenous musician Eadsé. While the overall progression follows a linear path, the choices you make influence how Jeanne and Maikan develop emotionally and morally, enriching the experience with meaningful consequences. Developed in collaboration with Indigenous creatives and guided by a Council of Elders, Two Falls offers an authentic, emotionally charged portrayal of this pivotal moment in history, inviting players to reflect on cultural intersections, survival, and identity through a unique and compelling lens.
