Game Overview
USC: Counterforce is a turn-based squad tactics game set in a sci-fi universe where players command a team of elite commandos dispatched to the mysterious planetary body M-8322. Tasked with investigating and eliminating the remnants of an enigmatic alien threat, the story unfolds through a story-driven campaign mode that combines procedural generation with multiple possible endings. As a commander, you must manage not only your squad’s tactical engagements but also the strategic operation of planetary bases, balancing faction relationships and defending vital fleet relay stations that maintain your connection to Earth. This adds a layer of depth beyond combat, emphasizing resource management and reputation alongside battlefield decisions. The gameplay features a detailed squad management system with complex character attributes and a class-free skill tree that allows for a variety of passive abilities. Combat mechanics include a wide range of weapons and gadgets, from melee and ranged arms with different ammunition types to hacking tools, deployable mines, turrets, and customizable armor and weapon upgrades. Players can manipulate fully destructible environments, creating opportunities to build barricades, set traps, or alter the terrain to their advantage while facing enemies with similar tactical options. USC: Counterforce offers multiple game modes, including single missions, multi-mission operations, and a base defense mode, all with scalable difficulty to suit different playstyles. Additionally, cooperative multiplayer is available locally or online via Steam’s Remote Play Together, allowing players to team up and tackle the alien menace together.
