Game Overview
Vivat Slovakia is an open-world action game set in the turbulent early 1990s, during the formative years of Slovakia’s independence. Against the backdrop of Bratislava, a city caught between its communist past and the rise of capitalism, players step into the shoes of an undercover cop working as a taxi driver. The game offers a richly detailed 10 square kilometer recreation of the city, capturing its gritty atmosphere and historic landmarks as it struggles with corruption, power struggles, and the lawlessness of the era. This setting paints a vivid picture of a society in transition, where institutions are fragile, and violence and bribery are common currency. Gameplay revolves around exploring this dynamic open world, interacting with a variety of characters, and navigating a narrative inspired by true events. Players encounter a complex web of shifting alliances, political intrigue, and criminal activity, all brought to life through missions voiced by professional actors. Driving plays a key role, with over 50 vehicles reflecting the social divide of the time—from utilitarian Soviet-era cars to rare luxury imports—each handled with realistic physics. Combat and survival depend on historically accurate weapons, emphasizing the harsh reality of a city where trust is scarce and danger lurks around every corner. Through its immersive story and faithful recreation of 1990s Bratislava, Vivat Slovakia offers a unique glimpse into a pivotal moment in Eastern European history.
