Wavetale is a story-driven action-adventure game set in the charming yet fading archipelago of Strandville. Players take on the role of Sigrid, a young girl who discovers a mysterious shadow companion granting her the extraordinary ability to walk on water. As she explores the open sea and the islands’ quaint villages, Sigrid encounters a variety of characters, from irritable fishermen and secretive hermits to the occasional pirate, each adding depth to the game’s richly woven narrative. The story touches on themes of loss and reconciliation, creating an emotional journey that unfolds alongside exciting gameplay. The game offers a fast-paced experience, allowing players to speed across waves, swing between rooftops using a net, and engage in dynamic combat, including confronting an old adversary threatening the islanders. Progression is enhanced through interactions with the diverse residents of Strandville, such as a confident surfer girl and a fisherman who has turned to fashion design. Customization plays a fun role as well, with players able to change Sigrid’s appearance using collectible hats, hair dyes, and outfits.
