Ratten Reich is a real-time strategy game set in a gritty, fictional world ravaged by constant warfare among anthropomorphic factions of rats, mice, cockroaches, and lizards. This steampunk and dieselpunk-inspired universe is defined by relentless conflict, where advances in steam and diesel technology have fueled the creation of brutal weapons, ushering in an era of unprecedented destruction. Players will navigate three distinct continents, each presenting unique tactical challenges: the swampy, trench-filled Central Continent hinders troop movement; the heavily fortified Eastern Continent demands careful assault planning; and the desert continent’s sandstorms and shifting dunes obscure visibility, complicating combat further. Across these war-torn landscapes, destructible environments play a key role, encouraging strategic use of cover and dynamic battlefield approaches. Each faction in Ratten Reich offers its own specialized infantry units, complete with unique designs and exclusive arsenals, allowing players to experience varied combat styles as they command the notorious RR (rats), FMR (mice), ERS (lizards), and RD (monitor lizards). Unit cards provide valuable information to help manage troops efficiently, while the game’s combat includes graphic elements like dismemberment and blood, emphasizing the brutal nature of the conflict. Beyond gameplay, the experience is enriched by an included comic book that delves deeper into the Ratten Reich universe.
